Toshiro Mifune

Japanese actor, 1920–1997. He joined Toho in 1947 and appeared in sixteen films with Akira Kurosawa, among them Rashomon, Seven Samurai and Yojimbo. He received the award for Best Actor at Venice twice, in 1961 and 1965, and set up his own production company in 1963.
